Functional Safety Expert, Head of Industrial Services | TUV Rheinland Singapore | Singapore
Mr. Chen Zhenkang is a Functional Safety Expert from TUV Rheinland, the globally-recognized certification body for Functional Safety Products, Functional Safety Applications and Functional Safety Management. He specializes in Safety Instrumented Systems, Safety Lifecycle Management, Functional Safety Management and Functional Safety Assessment according to IEC61511 and IEC61508, with more than 10 years’ experiences in local and global projects. As TUV Rheinland’s only Functional Safety Assessor for Process Industry in Asia Pacific Region, he is currently stationed in Singapore.
Prior to TUV Rheinland, he worked for Yokogawa and Schneider Electric in developing Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), as lead engineer for multi-million-dollar projects, in charge of safety technical design, safety verification/validation and safety lifecycle management.
He is also a well-recognized trainer and speaker in the field of functional safety with reference to IEC61508 and IEC 61511. His trainees mainly come from the process industry of Asia Pacific region. On 18th May 2018, he was invited by National Metrology Centre (NMC) to address “Measurement of Safety Integrity of E/E/PES (Electrical/Electronic/Programmable Electronic Safety-related Systems) according to IEC61508”. In the meanwhile, Mr. Chen Zhenkang is the department head for Industrial Services at TUV Rheinland Singapore Pte. Ltd. His department focuses on safety assurance for process industry for the Asia Pacific region, including:
1. Safety Case relevant services in line with Singapore’s WSH (MHI) Regulation, such as HAZOP/QRA/LOPA/Safety Case/Audit;
2. Functional Safety (IEC61511/IEC61508);
3. Explosion Protection (Atex/IECEx);
4. Industrial CyberSecurity (IEC 62443);
