Sharul A Rashid is the Principal Engineer, Instrument and Control in East Coast Refinery and Aromatics Plant based in Kertih, Terengganu, Malaysia.  Sharul had passed recent Custodian Assessment and ready for promotion. Sharul has more than 26 years of experience in handling instrumentation and control issues in oil, natural gas, gas liquefaction and petrochemical plant including pipeline transmission division. Sharul advises not only within his plant site but extend to other PETRONAS sites in matters pertaining to instrumentation and control. He has involved as an instrumentation expert in many key projects e.g. Kertih Compressor Station, Malaysia Peninsular Gas Utilisation metering stations project, MLNG Dua Debottlenecking Project etc.  Sharul has been sharing his valuable experience in IIOT PETRONAS Digital Transformation Initiative and Instrumentation Asset Management, including predictive tools e.g. Early Warning System and wireless sensors, Offsite Automation System Rejuvenation, Towards Instrumentation asset excellence in various platform in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, UAE, Oman, Netherland, German, USA and even to Russia. He participated in various HSE Management Assurance Audits throughout PETRONAS sites focusing in key aspects of Process Safety Compliance.  He also participated in the development of core competency program, accelerated capability development  and intensified coaching for PETRONAS instrument engineers and technicians.

Prior to joining PETRONAS, Sharul worked at MOTOROLA Semiconductor in Arizona, USA.  

Sharul graduated with honors in Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from University of Miami, Florida.  He pursued Master in Engineering in University of Florida, Gainesville, USA . He is a member of the International Society of Automation (ISA), member of Institute of Engineering Malaysia and member of Board of Engineer Malaysia and review committee for IECEx standard as well as ISA 75 Control Valve.
